Become a Volunteer
We currently need help in the following positions:

Tour Guide: Welcome visitors, give a brief tour to point out major interest points. The visitor is then free to browse the museum at his own pace. Other duties as assigned.

Reception: Welcoming our guests is vital, determining the purpose of their visit, taking phone calls, and disbursing to proper person. Greet visitors, ask them to sign guest book, and other duties as assigned.

Data Entry: Enry of data into computer and other duties as assigned. Assist in planning events, locating items of inventory, mailing out information to interested individuals.

Clerical: Day to day aspects of communications and record keeping. Various duties such as typing, filing, copying, etc., other duties as assigned.

Gift Shop Manager: Assess needs as to times the shop needs to be manned, keep accurate records, make deposits, etc. Schedule volunteers and train them to work in gift shop, order items to sell based on our mission - make sure gift shop is manned for special events and other duties as assigned.

Kitchen: Large events are especially important to the growth of the museum and it is vital to have extra help to assure to smooth operation. Essentially whatever is needed to be done, washing dishes, cooking, serving, other duties as assigned.

Garden/Landscape: Follow master plan for outdoor beds, landscaping and maintain same, other duties as assigned.

Airplane Repair: In conjunction with staff, follow master plan for airplane restoration and maintain same, other duties as assigned.

General Volunteer: Be available on a scheduled basis in one or more areas where support is needed. Willing to train for more than one area.
Training is an ongoing process at the Chennault Aviation and Military Museum. We will not place a volunteer in a position they do not feel comfortable performing.
As with an organization, we need to work as a team. Becoming a volunteer is becoming part of a team, we respect your opinions and suggestions. We encourage our volunteers to be active and help make work and the experience at the museum more enjoyable.
